Un Jack pas comme les autres...

Pour ceux qui ne seraient pas encore au courant, mercredi passé (16 septembre), Eireann nous a donné une belle nichée de beaucerons.

Toutefois un petit problème avec une femelle s’est vite présenté.
Toute petite , elle avait un souci pour se nourrir et donc très dur face à la concurrence de ses frères et sœurs.
On sait pertinemment bien que c’est la loi de la jungle, mais n’habitant pas la jungle, nous avons décidés Willy et moi de lui donner un petit coup de main (c’était sans compter sur celui que Caliméro avait décidé de lui apporter).
En effet, depuis jeudi (17/09), la petite est installée dans la cuisine dans un Varikennel de Caliméro (avec bouillotte, essuie éponge et peluche pour se sentir moins seule)
Au début elle n’avait que des biberons, puis nous avons fait rentrer la maman afin de lui donner la tétée en supplément de ceux-ci.
Depuis dimanche nous mettons bébé dans la maternité pour les tétées (avec toujours un supplément de biberons) mais en dehors de celles-ci elle vit toujours dans la cuisine et cela jusqu’au moment ou elle aura rattrapé un poids plus ou moins égal aux autres pour pouvoir les rejoindre

Non non en temps normal il lui est interdit de monter sur la table ou sur le radiateur mais dans ce cas ci, plus fort que son éducation,…. il a décidé de rester près d’elle

L'Eclusier

Written and directed by Nicolas Boucart with Fabrice Adde, Vera Van Dooren, Guy Pion & Blaise Ludik

A Lockkeeper plays his piano whilst the barges are in the lock. He lives with his goldfish in a small house in which it eternally rains. Men and dogs go by and sometimes come back.

December 2008 part of the "Regard Mordant" dogs participated with some of their class mates from "l'ECMC Marbais" in a short film called "L'Eclusier" which was directed by Nicolas Boucart and his Helicotronc team.

In order to do the shoots we went for two day trips to Picardie once with Calimero and the second time with Ze Best. The last day was shot in Brussels with Miss Mattie, Calimero and Hisme (who even though he was only 3 months old surprised me by his co-operation). For this shoot in Brussels the three «Regard Mordant" dogs were helped by Dot of Albion’s March (Border Collie) belonging to Florence, Ciao de Goupil le Fol (Lakenois) and Sam (Bull Terrier) both belonging to Elise.

The dogs will appear in three different scenes. Calimero who in the film will be killed but there is no need to panic my "Little Wolf" is still alive and did not suffer either physically or mentally. Nicolas the director and his team took no risk with Calimero and he had his "catchers" Roberto and Jeremy who caught him every time in a big sheet without fail. The following Sunday Calimero was very pleased to see all the team again. Ze Best will make a fleeing appearance at the end (he is the one who got away). All the others will appear together in a room where it is raining... I lift my hat off to the six dogs that were in this scene because even though they did not like the water overmuch they showed an obedience almost perfect.

I would like to thank Nicolas and all his team for their welcome and for the respect they showed towards all the dogs. Not only did they rewrite some scenes in order to make them easier for the dogs but also for their understanding when the dogs started to get fed up. It was a previlege to be able to spend 3 days in your company. Thanks again to Roberto and Jeremy and I can't forget a special thank you to Basil who shared his dish with the 'Visitors" in his studio.

Miss Mattie retires...

Sunday the 15th of June 2008 after an early start I arrived in Polleurs for the Belgian Breeding Championships with Eireann, Ze Best and for the last time Miss Mattie. By common accord Willy and I decided that even though she does not look her 12+ years Mattie would be retired from showing after this one.
In the morning Miss Mattie was judged for her confirmation in the Female Veteran Class and she obtained an Excellent but for the placing we had to wait until the afternoon.
During the afternoon’s placing Mattie came 2nd in the Female Veterans Class, 2nd in the Brace with her son Ze Best, and 1st in the Groups with Ze Best and Eireann her Granddaughter.
Miss Mattie is the first Beauceron that I owned, with her I discovered a lot of things and I am sure that we still have things to discover together.

 

 

The French National d'Elevage - Chartres 2008

This year for the first time I was allowed to go on my own to the French NE with Uddie and Eireann (or almost on my own, Willy was afraid I would get lost and assured I had a guide with me, thanks Salvatore for driving and the guided tour).
During the weekend I got proof that Beauceronniers are one big family and do not hesitate to help out if you are in the s*** (or at least the majority, as always there are always exceptions...).
Yes on Sunday morning I did nothing better than lock my keys in the car with Mattie and Eireann in it. Luckily the «Bergers de la Vallee», « l'Elevage du Montmorency » and the members of the « l'Etoile du Berger » Forum were there and managed to open the car and free the dogs without breaking anything. One even left his blood in it (isn't that right Sylvin). But not even an Opel Combo could resist against a team like that.

    

Oh yes I forgot to say a major plus when buying a car especially if you are inclined to forget your keys in it is one with boot hinges on the outside. Another good idea is never go anywhere without a friend with who has a hammer and a screwdriver...
Thank you everybody for your help, it's not tomorrow I will forget it.
Lastly but by no means the least I would like to thank Alain who even though he had a lot of dogs to present was willing to present our little pest Eireann.

I hope to see you all at the NE 2009 because the memories of 2008 with you all were so good I realy want to do it again. So come on guys get working on Willy...

The 2nd of Feburary 2008 Uddie and Utha (better known as Miss Mattie and Opium) went tu Uccle in order to appear in a film directed by Alix de Maistre called 'L'hôte'.
It is a French - Belgian film with amongst other acters Miou-Miou and Olivier Gourmet.
The dogs were to appear in three scenes, in the first one Opium and Mattie arrive at the police inspector's house with their owner who is another policeman. They are met at the door by the inspector's brother Augustin in his wheelchair.
In the second scene everybody is at the table having their dinner, Mattie is lying down in the background while Opium is sitting beside Augustin who is giving her pieces of bread. In the third scene they are in the sitting room having coffie and once again Opium is sitting next to Augustin. The film is due to come out next year.
